Are you ready to move beyond established protocols and develop the critical thinking tools to navigate the cases that don’t fit the textbook?
In this 8-week course, you'll build a set of skills that extend beyond what's currently offered in professional development for behaviour practitioners: frameworks for ethical decision-making that go deeper than existing hierarchies and models, strategies for thinking critically about your own methods and assumptions, and the ability to bridge theory and practice when working with human and nonhuman learners in situations that aren't straightforward. Because real cases rarely are.
This course is designed for the messy middle, where competing frameworks pull in different directions, where "effective” and "least intrusive” seem to conflict, and where the well-being of the individual learner in front of you demands more than a formula.

Is this course for you?
The course is not species-specific and anyone working with any companion animal species is welcome. A basic understanding of learning science is recommended but not required. Though the focus is on behaviour interventions, professionals at all experience levels will deepen their understanding of humane, reflective practice by participating.
